Winter, I thought you'd never come...

2 weeks ago I was about to write a post about how much this winter has sucked. There was no snow for snowboarding, no ice for ice-fishing and no inclimate weather so I would have an excuse to stay home from work. I was wearing tee-shirts outside and probably could have taken a swim in the lake if I wanted. It was the perfect time to join the Polar Bear club. This was January 2007 in New Jersey.

Then one week goes by and there is 6 inches of ice on the lake. Just like that. One week and we are punched in the face by Old Man Winter. One week I'm sweating walking to my car, and the next my hair freezes the second I step outside. In one week, we went from 70 degrees to 17 degrees. Just one week.

Some people are blaming El Nino for the uncharacteristically warm weather. Personally, I find it hard to believe that global warming has nothing to do with this. I'm not the person to make this arguement (especially since I drive an SUV, which makes me a hypocrite), but I'm not one to deny what's going on.

A few days ago, some idiot says to me sarcastically "I wish Al Gore was here to explain this global warming now". He said this to me because it was cold outside. It's freaking January! It's supposed to be cold outside. Were you alive 2 weeks ago when it was 70 degrees?

I'm not sure that I have a point to finish with. I just wanted to note that this winter has been a weird one. 2007, mark it down. Weird winter. Add another slide to Gore's PowerPoint.
